About the event
Did you know that African textiles often incoporate patterns that contain geometric shapes or symbols that tell stories about the traditions of those who created them?
During this unique three hour fan making workshop with expert craftswoman Victoria Ajoku, you'll not only find out about some of these symbols and patterns, but you'll learn the basic techniques for making a modern fan and create your own gorgeous accesssory out of papers that have been printed with them.
Whilst participants will be able to take their fans home with them, we would love it if you would loan them back for our Africa Fashion exhibition and fashion show which will be held in July....date TBC! Photogrpahs WILL be taken during the workshop.
All materials will be provided. Get ready to have a fun, ‘fan filled time’!
This workshop is one of a series of fabulous FREE workshops being scheduled as part of GCDA's Africa Fashion series for Black History 365 which has been generously funded by Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Please note that this fan making workshop will be held at Kidbrooke Community Hub, NOT at Made in Greenwich.
